Christmas Wish List | Beauty

As you would imagine after all the Christmas Gift Guide reading I have done lately I have accumulated a rather large wish list of my own. So I thought I would share with what's on my Christmas list this year, starting with beauty (obvs).

1. The Ciate Mini Mani Month | available at Selfridges, ASOS and online from Ciate | £42
I bought this last year and absolutely loved it, expensive but well worth the money in my opinion but  I am a self confessed nail polish addict.

2. The Babyliss Pro Perfect Curl | available from Amazon and many many more | £139.99
I really want this as I find curling my hair such an awkward task and one side never curls properly, this is sooo expensive I think it will be on many wish lists to come before I actually (if ever) own one.

3. Givenchy Lash Sparkle | available at Debemhams | £19
This would be a real luxury product as I obviously wouldn't walk round everyday with glittery lashes, but I think it would be just lovely for nights out and the Christmas part season.

4. NARS Eye Paint in Tatar | available at Selfridges | £18.50
I just love this, the colour looks amazing and I like the idea that you can wear it all over the eye or as a liner. I'm really getting into these sorts of products at the moment so this would be a nice addition.

5. Clinique Chubby Stick in Grandest Grape | available at all Clinique counters | £17
I don't have any of the orignal Chubby Sticks as I always thought they were expensive for what they are but if I'm willing to pay £18 for an eye shadow why not a lip balm stain? I think this colour is beautiful for winter.

6. Real Techniques Sam's Picks brush set | available at Feel Unique | £29.99
I love the Real Techniques brushes and this set covers everything, you really can never have too many makeup brushes!

7. Stila Colour Outside the Lines Smudge Stick set | available from Boots and Feel Unique | £36
I love Stila smudge sticks, I got one in the In The Light palette last Christmas and I use it almost everyday. These are the only eyeliners I have mastered how to use, generally I'm pretty pants at eyeline but these glide on so easily and stay put!

So that's my beauty wish list (so far), if you're reading this Mum or hubby :)

What do you think? Is there anything on there that you are lusting after this Christmas?

Sunday Shout Out | Christmas Edition

Ooo it's coming, there's no way you can stop it now so might as well embrace all that is festive and glittery! Personally I LOVE Christmas, I'm that person singing Christmas songs in June and having to be physically restrained from putting my tree up before the 1st December.
So naturally I have already started my Christmas shopping, in fact I'm almost done! To save me a little bit of time I have been on the hunt for fantastic Christmas gift guide type posts, and let me tell you most have fallen flat! Not in the having fantastic gift idea department but in the simple admin of the guide itself. I have come across so many that feature some really nice things but they fail to give any information about where to buy or price and there isn't a link in sight. I know I could leave a comment to ask where the things are from but I don't have time to keep checking back for replies that may never come. I know how hard it is to write a gift guide, hence the reason I haven't written one myself, it takes a lot of time and effort to put a really good one together so I don't understand why people are ruining their hard work by missing the simple necessities.

However, there are some fantastic Christmas Gift Guides out there so I thought I would save your time by pointing them out to you...

First up is Beauty and the Chic, this is one of THE best Christmas gift guides I have found, Claudia has certainly done her research! There are so many lovely things on her list that she has had to do it in two parts, that's how much work has gone into this post. It's clear and easy to read with all of the vital information and links you need!

Next up is Jemima & Ted, I first discovered Kat's fab gift guides last Christmas, I especially love her gift guides for men as I always struggle when it comes to buying for my hubby and she has some brill options to choose from. I have bought 3 of the things off this list, not saying who for or which three as you never know who's reading :)

Another blog I find myself coming back to time and time again for informative straight to the point product reviews is Makeup Savvy and her gift guides this Christmas are just as good. If you're looking for something a bit different she's your gal, her blog is full of the latest offering from new and established brands.

Beauty & Baggage has got all your bases covered from beauty to food and all things in between. Again Seonaid's gift guides are packed with all the vital information you need and the things she has chosen to include are really different, I have picked up some great ideas from them.

Finally this is a blog that was pointed out to me by Stacey from Expat Make-Up Addict, The Other VW has got a series of gift guides for everything from under £5 right up to the really expensive high end stuff. I know which list Stacey will be eyeing up :)

So there you have it, my pick of the best Christmas gift guides I have come across so far. I hope this post has been helpful and if nothing else it has introduced to you some really fab blogs. Obviously my gift guide hunting won't stop until I have all my presents sorted so I will continue to keep you updated with the anymore that I find. If you have spotted any great gift guides or have one of your own I'd love to hear about them as I still have a few more presents to buy.

P.S. I know it's not Sunday but I planned to have this go live yesterday and for some reason it didn't happen!
P.P.S. If you're seeing this for the second time it's because the evil blogger gremlins deleted it the first time!

Sleek Make Up Blusher | Review

I've been using the same blusher now for about 6 months, blushers are one thing I don't have many of so I decided it was time I added some to my collection.

I have heard so many good things about Sleek blushers so I thought that would be a good place to start, Superdrug had a 3 for 2 offer on so naturally I had to buy 3 of them.

I went for Rose Gold which is a fantastic dupe for NARS Orgasm, Pomegranate and Flushed, all three are not shades that I would usually go for.

All three blushes are so highly pigmented you hardly need any at all to get a beautiful flash of colour on your cheeks. I have been mainly using Flushed during the day as it is a silky matte whereas the other two have a gold highlight to them. Flushed is perfect for the Autumn/Winter months, with all things berry coloured doing the rounds this season it makes for a perfect match to berry or plum shades on the lips.

If I want a bit more of a special look for a night out of Rose Gold and Pomegranate are fab as they add a lovely hint of a highlight to the cheek bones.

These blushers are great for the price, they're just as good as any high end blusher at a fraction of the price!

I'm a huge fan of Sleek blushers and I'm already thinking about my next purchase. I would definitely recommend these blushers to anyone wanting to build up their collection.

Topshop Lipsticks | Autumn Edition

You all know how much I love Topshop make up, it's high end quality at high street prices in my opinion. So I thought it was about time I went in and got myself some scary deep Autumn lippies.

I usually tend to stick to pink lip colours as I always feel safe in pink, however this Autumn I have decided to take a huge step out of the box and go for some really rich deep colours.

I decided to go for Screen Siren which is a beautiful deep red and Beguiled which is the darkest lip colour I have ever worn. I've been looking for a plum coloured lipstick for a while and I've swatched a few but never felt brave enough to go for it, my skin tone seems to be more suited to spring/summer colours but I really love Beguiled so went for it.

Screen Siren is from the Creamy finish range and it's really silky and has a slightly glossy finish, whereas Beguiled is a Matte finish. I always expect matte lipsticks to feel really dry on the lips but this one definitely doesn't feel that way. I'm really looking forward to wearing Beguiled especially, I've not been brave enough to wear it out during the day yet but I have a wedding coming up this weekend so I'm planning my make up around this lipstick.

Once again Topshop comes up trumps in the lipstick department!

Have you tried the Topshop make up range? What's your favourite product from the range?

Phil Smith Hello Moisture Review

Since having my hair onbre'd I have noticed that the ends of my hair have gone really dry. This time round I have gone much lighter on the ends and I have definitely noticed the difference in the damage it is doing. I was so paranoid at first I didn't want to brush my hair, I kept having visions of it just breaking off half way down.

I have started to try lots of different moisturising products to try and repair the damage, one of which is the Phil Smith Be Gorgeous Hello Moisture Intensive Conditioning Treatment* (phew).

This was another product that was gifted to me in the Pure Beauty Awards goody bag, I'm not a huge fan of 'celebrity' products as I don't think they are ever any good and they certainly aren't 'salon quality'.

The instructions say to wash your hair using your favourite Phil Smith Shampoo (obvs) then put this conditioning treatment on and for best results leave for 15 minutes. I just used my usual shampoo and then added the conditioner and left for the full 15 minutes, hoping that my hair would be silky smooth when I washed it off.

My first impressions of this conditioner were that sadly it had not done anything for my hair :( After 15 minutes I didn't feel that this product had done what I had expected it to do, usually when you use a conditioning treatment it feels really soft at first and then maybe the effects wear off. I didn't feel that initial softness there was just nothing, but after a day or so I can say that my hair definitely looks and feels in better condition. The ends aren't as dry and the colour looks really smooth, where as before the ends were a bit all over the place so the colour looked quite dull. I can now run my fingers through the length of my hair without them getting stuck half way down because of all the dry ends and tangles they caused. One other thing it did was make the roots of my hair look shinier on day two than it usually does.

I was all geared up to post a fairly negative review of this product, but I think it one of those products that needs time to work its magic. I would recommend this product if you have slightly damaged hair but maybe not severely damaged.  I still really doubt whether Phil Smith is using this on any of his 'celebrity' clients but I don't actually think it is a half bad conditioning treatment for £3.99. I think the Phil Smith range is exclusive to Sainsbury's so if you do your regular shop in there it maybe worth just stopping and taking a look at the Phil Smith range.

NOTD : Bonfire Night Inspired

Remember  remember remember the 5th of November...

I cannot believe it is November already, this year has gone so fast! I don't mean to scare you guys but there's only one more pay day until Christmas (if you get paid monthly that is)! Where has this year gone really...

Well seeing as I did a Halloween inspired NOTD I thought I would do the same for Bonfire Night. Again the polish I used is from Models Own, this time one of their Bottleshop exclusive Astrix Duo polishes in Amber Red.

The base coat is a lovely deep ox blood colour called Hot Red and the glitter top coat is a gorgeous mix of gold, bronze, orange and yellow called Ember Glow. I was told that these two polishes were part of an exclusive range only available from the Models Own Bottleshop or their website

As you can see the base coat Hot Red looks lovely on its own, perfect for Autumn/Winter.

Then the top coat just makes it look even more gorgeous! I thought Ember Glow looked like the glow of the Bonfire so perfect for today.

Once again Models Own makes amazing nail art so simple and effective, I have to say I think they are my favourite nail polishes by far and at only £5, bargain!!

What do you think?

Best Leather Jacket Looks from Very.co.uk | Guest Post

Today's post is something a little different, today I have my first guest post* from Very.co.uk. Are you hunting for the perfect leather jacket as the Autumn weather draws in?...

Steal their style: best leather jacket looks on screen
Beloved of rebels, fashionistas and motorcyclists alike, a classic leather jacket is the perfect way to add edge to any look. Rebellious and chic, these jackets can toughen up a cute summer dress and add style to a chunky knit jumper in colder months. Before checking out the must-have leather jackets this season, get some inspiration from our favourite on-screen leather looks.

Megan Fox, Transformers 2

While it's a challenge to find a moment where Megan Fox is anything other than stunning, it's fair to say that she looks particularly good in the fitted leather jacket she donned in Transformers 2. Her character Mikaela arrives on a motorbike, clad in a gorgeous jacket with matching trousers and a strapless white cotton dress underneath. Feminine and feisty, this is a great outfit to replicate when you're feeling fierce, even if you're headed to the bar instead of the track.

Angelina Jolie, Wanted

Angelina sported a killer leather jacket in this 2008 thriller, which co-starred James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman. Ever one for a good cause, the actress sold the XS jacket, which featured a diagonal front zipper and tassel detail, at auction to raise money for Plan!t Now, a non-profit organisation which deals with disasters around the world. Valued at $1,000, the jacket actually managed to sell for over $7,000.

Uma Thurman, Kill Bill
The skin-tight yellow and black jumpsuit Uma sported in Quentin Tarantino's violent revenge thriller is now one of Hollywood's most famous costumes. Unsurprisingly, this cool and deadly look became a popular Halloween costume after the film's release.

Alexis Bledel, Sin City
In this adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel series, shot almost entirely in black and white, Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel stood out in a skinny-fit studded leather jacket. She wore the staple piece over a corset and accessorised with gothic jewellery. The raunchy role and rebellious outfit certainly helped Alexis shed her good-girl image - such is the power of good leather gear.

Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo

The Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoos are another product that I didn't really understand what all the fuss was about, the original colours weren't anything special and they just didn't interest me at all.

However, they seem to have launched some new colours, not new news I know but as I wasn't initially bothered by these products it has taken me a while to catch on. These new colours are lovely, much more eye catching.

The colours I got are Light in Purple, Pink Gold, Metallic Pomegranate and Permanent Toupe, I'm not sure if Permanent Toupe is a new colour or not but if it isn't I obviously didn't see its potential first time round.

Light in Purple is a beautiful aqua blue colour, it's so shimmery, I'm not actually sure when I would wear this but the colour was too nice not to have. Pink Gold is another gorgeous colour it looks amazing in the inner corners of the eye. Metallic Pomegranate is my absolute favourite, it looks stunning with MAC Cranberry over the top, it is such as good colour match so works great as a base. Permanent Toupe has become my everyday staple, I wear this on its own or as a neutral base for any eye colour.

They are super long lasting and make your eye make up stay exactly where you want it. The formula is really creamy without being greasy and they dry really quickly so there is no creasing.

I'm glad I decided to take another look at the Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoos and I will be keeping an eye out for any new releases this time.

Collective MAC Haul

I know how you guys all love a good haul, even though they aren't my favourite thing to right I do absolutely love having a nosy at what other people buy in their hauls.

Now when it comes to MAC I have never really understood the obsession, yes their Studio Finish concealer is good but I never really felt it was worth all the hype. I now realise this is because I have been fixating on their foundations, determined to find one that's just right alas to no avail. However that has all changed since I discovered their lipsticks and eyeshadows!

I don't know why I have been wasting my time trying to make myself love MAC foundations when all I had to do was move to the next station in Selfridges to find the perfect MAC products.

So I went from not owning any of the much talked about MAC lipsticks to owning 4, and I can tell you now I wont be stopping there! I opted for Creme Cup, Bombshell, Chatterbox and Girl About Town, they're all real girly colours and I feel really confident wearing them.

My favourites are Creme Cup and Bombshell, they are both really easy to wear for an everyday look. Creme Cup is really moisturising but doesn't have the staying power of Chatterbox or Girl About Town, this has no doubt got something to do with the formula but as a MAC novice I haven't quite worked out all of the different finishes just yet.

Another product I went from having none of to now owning 3 of them is MAC eyeshadows, I bought Cranberry as part of another haul after seeing, yet again, Sugarfixx Beauty use it in a tutorial. The other two I picked up on my birthday trip to London.

I decided to go for Sumptuous Olive because I had seen it in a Tanya Burr tutorial and as I have brown eyes I thought it would look really nice, great for winter. I also opted of one of the Pigment Colour Powders in Old Gold, I've never really used a pigment before apart from the Barry M dazzle dusts when I was a kid, but it looked so lovely with the Sumptuous Olive I decided to take a risk and give it a go.

I have to say these swatches really do not do the eyeshadows any justice at all, especially Cranberry. These eyeshadows are so pigmented it's ridiculous, I will never in a million years get through the whole pot of Colour Pigment as you only need the smallest amount. Cranberry is the most beautiful deep purple/red colour but the swatches make it look more like a brown.

I will definitely be adding a few more MAC products to my Christmas list as I really am loving MAC now, finally I understand the hype! I think I will have to get myself a pallet for my eyeshadows as I feel my collection may get quite large, plus then I get to do the 'Back to MAC' thing and get a free lippy :)

What are your favourite MAC products? What should I add to my collection next?
