Ten Reasons Why #3

In the words of Jessie J, 'It's all about about the money, money, money...' and that other dude, 'Money on my mind, my mind on my money...' or something like that.

My name is Ashleigh and I'm a spend-a-holic, when I have no money I spend my days searching the internet planning what I am going to buy when I have some and when I have money it soon disappears. Even worse, when I know I have an amount of money coming, like when my husband works extra jobs, I have spent it before it's even in his hands.

I have always been this way, when I was at uni my friends used to say I spent like I was a millionaire, and I'd buy all sorts of rubbish. When I left uni I had to curb my habit as spending like a millionaire when you are actually nothing of the sort definitely has its repercussions! However now me and my husband both have really good jobs and income is on the up so is my spending, only now it's not just me I have to think about it's my girls too. I'm like a woman obsessed when it comes to buying stuff for my girls, there isn't anything too expensive or ridiculous. They don't have designer wardrobes worth £1000's or anything that daft I just make sure they have nice things, clothes etc. always come from Next or H&M, but if they wanted something extravagant for Christmas there is no doubt that I would make sure they had it. Don't get me wrong, we're by no means well off, in fact some months we live hand to mouth, but that doesn't stop me thinking about spending...

I realised I haven't done a 'Ten Reasons Why' post in a while so after a going on a little spending spree yesterday I thought I'd do one about why I love spending money...

Ten Reasons Why...I like spending money
1. I love stuff!
2. It gives me a sense of achievement when I finally get to buy something I have wanted for a long time.
3. It makes me feel happy when I buy things for other people, especially my girls.
4. It makes me feel generous, even though shops really don't need me to share my money with them.
5. I am contributing to the failing economy (that's as far as I go when it comes to politics).
6. It never fails to cheer me up when I'm feeling low.
7. You can't take it with you...
8. Seeing the look on my girls face when I get them something they really want, priceless!
9. Buying new make up and clothes takes my mind off turning 30 and keeps me feeling young!
10. I know money can't buy you happiness, but it sure takes your mind off all the things that make you sad.

If you have a problem just like me, I appreciate this will have done nothing to sway you from hitting the shops during your lunch break but I'd love to hear why you like spending money.

Shoes, beautiful shoes

I have always had a thing for shoes, what girl hasn't, my infatuation stems from my mother she has a shoe for every outfit. I remember endless Saturdays of going from one shop to the other and back until she finally made a decision on the perfect shoe.

In recent year's I must admit I have managed to curb my shoe addiction and I have moved on to other things such as bags and makeup. I started to make more sensible shoe choices, getting ones I knew would go with other things. However when I saw my latest shoe purchase I knew I had to have them, no matter what they cost, that shoe animal instinct reared its head again and I had forgotten what an overwhelming feeling it was. To have the perfect pair of shoes in sight and know they would be mine, it's a glorious feeling.

I was actually more concerned with finding a dress when these babies caught my eye, I was off to the fancy Waitrose Suppliers Ball and by all accounts it was a fairly posh affair (and it was!). I had my dress in hand and was on my way to the counter when I saw them, I was in Debenhams and on the off chance I would find some nice jewellery I headed over the the Miss Selfridge concession, something I never do as it's one of those tiny people shops. There they were just staring at me, the last pair in the perfect colour and guess what, my size! It was fate, just meant to be, so I didn't question it I just took myself off to the till.

Lets take a moment to appreciate their full beauty....

These nude coloured heels are suede with a lace side panel and a giant bow on the front, they have a zip at the back so you can leave the bow sitting pretty. They are quite high but have about a half an inch platform at the front so they don't feel as high as they are. I'm glad I have started to wear heels on a day to day basis as I think I have now conditioned my feet to love heels, previously I would have been walking like a chicken laying an egg within 10 minutes! They were a little more than I have paid for a pair of shoes recently, remember I have been making sensible choices, at £46 they weren't cheap but I wouldn't say overly expensive either. I have already worn them since the Waitrose event and I can see I will definitely get my money's worth out of these bad boys.

I teamed them up with a gorgeous bright coral pink dress from Pussycat, also from Debenhams, which was £25 another bargain as I've already worn that since the event too.

Life update and Beat the bulge #2

Hello again y'all, apologies for my MIA status recently but I have been sooooooooooooo busy at work I've hardly had time to sit down never mind blog!

As I have been absent for quite a while I thought I'd take this opportunity to fill you all in on what I've been up to, as it's rather exciting.

As you know (or maybe you don't) I work as a brand manager for BlanX toothpaste, and with the launch of BlanX White Shock recently things have been crazy busy and exciting. Over the past couple of weeks I have been swanning around Italy on a secret BlanX mission, if you follow @BlanXuk on Twitter you will be up to speed and you've probably got a good idea of what I was up to. I'm not going to say too much as I don't want to spoil the surprise, all I will say is keep your eyes open for BlanX White Shock EVERYWHERE in August!

I love that I get to travel with my job, I never thought I'd be doing anything like this when I graduated uni and settled down to have my family. I feel truly blessed to be doing a job I love and extremely grateful for all the amazing opportunities I have been given.

I have been in Bologna, the home of BlanX and the original bolognese, where they eat and eat and eat! Seriously, after I had been making such an effort to loose weight my trip completely ruined it! Which brings me to my Beat the Bulge update, if you have read my first Beat the Bulge post you'll know I have started the Slimming World diet to try and loose weight for my hols. It all started so well and I had lost 6 lbs in 3 weeks, then I went to Italy...

We were wined and dined whilst there, which I thought would be fine as pasta is allowed on Slimming World, however meals that consist of 5 - 6 courses and mascapone so good it should be illegal are not! I managed to gain 2 lbs whilst there and to be honest I haven't been trying as hard since I got back. I am determined to get back on track and I have lots of new delicious recipes to try out, when I've made a couple I'll put them on here for you all to see.

So that's it a bit of an update as to what's going on with me and why I have been so quiet on here for the last few weeks. As well as getting back on track with my diet I'm also going to get back to blogging, if you want to keep up to date with the dieting and my exciting BlanX adventures why not follow me on Bloglovin'?
